Swayambhunath

There are many temples in the swayambhu site, but the main chaitya is one of the world's most glorious Buddhist chaitya. It is also said to be about 2000 years old ancient. It is situated on a hillock which is about 77 meter high from the ground level. Swoyambhu means "the self created one" it is said that in ancient times swayambhu appeared by itself as a beacon of the light over the lotus with the thousand of petals and later on a stupa was erected above that site covering the light. In swoyambhu there are huge number of monkey so nowadays it is also known as Monkey temple. Many visitor come from different place to visit it.
